Ventured into town before first light as a swell was rumoured and Ive not seen much surf for months...By the time Id changed into my suit Baxter was already paddling out in the dark and the usual suspects were gathering in the gloom of the carpark. I followed Baxter out in the dark (around 6.45 am ish)and so shortly afterwards did the inevitable hurd...but despite the growing crowd and even a couple of canooooistas and a scattering of speedbumps, all was pretty mellow. I even remembered how to stand up and which way round to point my stick. Had a few nice clean waves in the 2-3ft range (nothing spectacular) and got out around 8.15 as the crowd started to morph into the flock of aimless rubber sheep often characteristic of dear old Trap when its small and the swell starts to drop off... Saw the day break through the teeming rain and a dolphin out the back, grinned a fair amount and had a heck of a good time damn it... Cant wait for some more.
N.B.
My Bulldog leash with a lifetime guarantee broke (only two years old, some life huh !) I did manage to bodge it for the session though....Beware Bulldog bullshit !
